  5. Combine wet and dry ingredients just until no dry streaks remain—do not overmix. Fold in chives or green onions if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Optional: Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is golden brown.
