Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp oil or melted butter
- ¾ cup warm water (as needed)
- Extra flour for rolling
- Butter or oil for cooking
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add oil, then slowly add warm water while mixing until a soft dough forms. - Knead Well:
Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. This is key for soft parathas. - Rest the Dough:
Cover and let rest for 20–30 minutes. This relaxes the gluten and makes rolling easier. - Divide:
Cut dough into equal balls (about golf ball size). - Roll & Layer:
Roll one ball into a circle, lightly brush with oil, fold into a semi-circle, oil again, fold into a triangle, then roll flat. - Cook:
Heat a pan on medium. Place paratha and cook until bubbles form, flip, brush with butter/oil, flip again and cook until golden spots appear. - Serve Hot:
Serve warm with curry, honey, jam, or yogurt.
Tips for Extra Soft Paratha:
- Use warm water for kneading
- Resting the dough is essential
- Don’t overcook; keep them soft and flexible
