Savory Beef & Cheese Pastry Squares

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella or cheddar
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Brown ground beef in a skillet. Add onion and garlic; cook 2–3 minutes.
  3. Stir in paprika, salt, pepper, oregano, and tomato sauce. Simmer 5 minutes. Cool slightly.
  4. Roll out puff pastry and cut into equal squares.
  5. Spoon beef mixture into the center of each square. Top with cheese.
  6. Fold slightly or leave open-faced. Brush edges with beaten egg.
  7. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden and puffed.
