
🧑🍳 Instructions:
- Sauté the onion in oil over medium heat until soft and translucent.
- Remove from heat and stir in the paprika (to avoid burning it), then immediately add garlic and tomato.
- Return to heat. Add the potatoes, sausage slices, and bell pepper. Stir well to coat with the paprika mixture.
- Pour in enough water or broth to just cover the potatoes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 25–30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the stew thickens slightly.
- Serve hot with crusty bread or fresh pickles.
🍽️ Tip:
Some Hungarians mash a few potatoes at the end to thicken the stew naturally.
