👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Sauté the Onions
In a heavy pot, heat lard/oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown — this is key to the flavor!
2. Add Paprika (Off the Heat!)
Remove pot briefly from heat and stir in paprika to avoid burning it.
3. Add Beef & Garlic
Return pot to the heat. Add beef cubes and garlic, stirring to coat the meat with the onion-paprika mix.
4. Add Tomato & Pepper
Stir in the chopped tomato (or paste) and green pepper. Cook for 5–7 minutes.
5. Simmer Low & Slow
Add enough broth or water to cover halfway. Cover and simmer gently for 1½ to 2 hours, stirring occasionally and adding more liquid as needed until meat is tender and sauce is thick.
🍽️ How to Serve:
- With nokedli (Hungarian dumplings), boiled potatoes, or buttered egg noodles
- Garnish with a dollop of sour cream if you like!
